Dolly Diptych Weeks 9 & 10

Yay~! I'm almost caught up with my weekly diptych challenge. :) I've posted the first diptych in a separate post before, but I loved the photos so much that I just had to use it again. The second diptych was taken the same time as my previous diptych post. Can you tell how much I love those Sylvanian family cream bunnies?

Full Bloom

New Friends

Hell month at work is about to end soon! I'm headed to a Anvaya Cove in Subic tomorrow for a the resort's anniversary celebration and for Earth Hour. It's going to be Blair's first vacation outing, hehe. I hope I can snap some nice shots to post here!

Feeling down? Have some bunnies!

The past two weeks have been pretty tiring and busy for me at the office. I haven't had enough time to plan my blog posts and take photos of Blair. It feels off, but I just keep on reminding myself that the end product of my work will be super awesome and totally worth all the effort. ^_^ Besides, come July I will be going to Dollism 7 with the awesome people of ManikaManila! It's so exciting. I can't wait! :D

For those of you feeling bummed out like me, here, have some cute courtesy of Blair and her bunnies.

I hope this brings a smile to your face. ^_^

I'm a Sucker for Stockings

...and tights for that matter. For some people, wearing them in a tropical country like the Philippines is uncomfortable, but not for me. I almost always wear a pair everyday! I love how stylish they are. They're more comfortable than wearing jeans, in my opinion.

Online clothing shop ASOS.com carries some really cute stockings and tights. Below are some of my personal picks from their line.

Ellen June Jewett's Surreal Sculptures

When I first saw Ellen June Jewett's works from deviantART, I thought they were macabre and gory, but upon closer inspection, I realized they were completely the opposite. What looked like rotting flesh and jutting bones were actually vines, branches, and even small animals! I was amazed. The luxurious details she puts makes her creatures look alive. Her sculptures remind me of the Night Elf Ancients from Warcraft and Hayao Miyazaki's Spirit of the Forest from Princess Mononoke.

Dolly Diptych Weeks 7 & 8: Studies in Color

Wow, I'm really lagging behind my weekly diptychs. Things have been so busy at work that I just want to bum around when I get home. I use a trusty old Canon EOS 30D to take photos, and unlike the newer Canon models, mine is crazy heavy especially with macro lens. T_T Ah well, at least here's two to make up for it!

Chilling in the Green

Peaceful Blue

I'm still trying to get a hang of how to photograph Blair with her current face-up. There is something bugging me, but I'm not sure what. Probably the lower lashes. She might get a new face-up once my schedule clears up pretty soon.

Get the Look: Vanilla Tea Cookie with Pink Frosting (SD)

This week has been quite crazy for me at work, so please forgive me for cheating on this week's Get the Look. I found this cozy coordinate and it instantly saw its similarity with a lot of Nine9Style pieces! Too bad I didn't find the right wig from them, so I had to go with one from LUTS instead.

Hope you guys like it! ^^

Theme Thursday: Origami

As a kid, I loved to do origami. My folds weren't the neatest and I had paper cuts frequently, but I enjoyed making them anyway. I liked making origami bunnies the most. They were simple and easy to do, but they were cute. It's one of the few ones I still remember how to do. xD

Fancying FoxyBrowny

If someone asks me what my favorite doll clothes shop is, I would say "FoxyBrowny!" in a heartbeat. Their clothing fits the mori girl aesthetic, with their use of natural color palettes and fabrics mixed with a light and carefree style. I love how effortlessly pretty the clothes are.

Even before I got Blair, I swore to myself that she would have at least one clothing set from them. I managed to snag this one for a cheaper price at the DoA Marketplace, and it's become one of my favorite outfits of hers!

Below are some of my favorite sets from FoxyBrowny.

Choose your Color: Pantone Fruit Tarts

I have a soft spot for organic interpretations of synthetic objects, so when I stumbled upon this amazing photoset by the super talented Emilie of Griottes.fr last week, I fell in love! It's so beautifully done. It's reminiscent of how natural dyes are made. Truly inspirational.

Don't they look deliciously pretty? *u*

Blair's First Fanart and Blog Feature!

I won a guessing game held by my talented artist friend Nix back in late February. The prize was a character sketch, and I chose Blair as the subject of course! Nix got a little carried away with the sketch, and it ended up as a full illustration. I love it! I really like the warm color scheme and the pensive atmosphere. I'm so glad I won the game! ヽ(*≧ω≦)ノ

Check it out on deviantART!
Recently, Blair was featured in Valerie Chua's blog Quiet Girl! Valerie is one of my favorite local artists. Mori girls are a big influence in her art, which is one of the biggest reasons why I like her work. I asked for her permission to have her art printed on a hoodie for Blair, and she agreed! I'm extremely grateful. Thank you again, Valerie!(*^ワ^*)

If only I could get one in my size...
February was a great month! I hope March and the rest of the year will be as awesome.

Mall's Birthday Giveaway: I won 4th prize!

One of my favorite artists, May Ann Licudine aka Mall celebrated her 30th birthday last February 24. She held a giveaway on her blog, where the first prize was an original painting! I entered the giveaway but I didn't win the painting. I won the fourth prize though! It's a super cute pocket mirror with her original characters Babu and his cat, Abu.

Here are the photos of the package!

I spazzed when I saw this arrive! It's so cute. Look at those awesome handmade stamps she used!

The contents of the package: the mirror, a business card, a handmade bracelet and a PRINT!
More photos after the jump!

Theme Thursday: Decora

Decora is another outrageous fashion style that started in Japan. This style reminds me of Lisa Frank's artwork because of all the bright colors and cutesy, childish accessories they use in their outfits. It's like a throwback to the '90s (my childhood!), only with the rainbow vomit multiplied by the thousands! I love it, haha!

Noriter Mini-Meet!

Last Saturday, I met up with some friends from ManikaManila for a mini-meet at Café Noriter in Taft. We talked about dolls, work, life and lulz! Fun times. :) It's too bad I wasn't able to bring a camera (no food shots, boo!), but Nix and Mel allowed me to post and edit some of theirs for this blog. Thanks guys!

Blair loves her new bunnies. And Little Rose. :3
More photos under the cut!

Get the Look: Chocolate Almond Truffles (SD)

Here's a cool coordinate for SD boys that reminds me of chocolate truffles. Haha, who would have thought that layering jackets would look chic? I guess it depends on the person wearing it. Ah well, I'm pretty sure your doll can carry the look. ;)

I should do looks for guys more often. It's a lot easier! XD

Alexander McQueen 2012 Spring Collection

I'm not an expert when it comes to haute couture, nor am I runway fanatic, but I am familiar with the works of Alexander McQueen. I love how they turn clothes into pieces of art and how they push the boundaries of beauty.

I was a little worried when I heard about the eponymous creative director's death two years ago, but judging from Kate Middleton's wedding gown and their recent collections, the brand is in good hands. Their most recent collection is yet another amazing one. I wouldn't want to wear them (as if I could), but they are a sight to behold.

Below are some of my favorite pieces from the collection:

Creative director Sarah Burton had this to say about the collection:
"I was thinking about a woman as an object of desire. We go to such lengths to adorn ourselves that we almost become our clothes or are taken over by them. This is a collection about excess - an exploration of ideals of beauty at their most extreme."

Game of Thrones Inspired Collection by Catherine Janelle; Blair's Daenerys Cosplay

My friend and fellow Game of Thrones fanatic Nix linked me to her friend Catherine Janelle's online clothing shop a few weeks ago. Her collection called Skin Changer draws inspiration from the different characters of the series. My GoTard self went nuts! I wanted almost everything. I love the subtle eccentricity of the pieces. They're quite unconventional but still totally wearable.

Here are some of my favorite pieces:

Sansa's Prayer
I love the sheer color and the leather appliqué!

Arya's Prayer
This has so much spunk, just like its namesake.

Bran
It serves as a cute accessory AND a small purse!

Daenerys Qartheen
A tunic fit for the mother of dragons. ;)

Varys
It transforms into 6 different looks!
I plan to order a Bran soon. I'll post about it when I get it!

Speaking of Game of Thrones, last October, ManikaManila held its Halloween meet. I dressed Blair up as Daenerys Targaryen, while my other friends dressed their dolls up as other characters from the show.

Danaerys with Khal Drogo and the dragon eggs! :3
I can't wait for the second season of the show to air! April 1, can't you come any sooner? = n = ;;

Theme Thursday: Dolls & Flowers

"Dolls and flowers" is a cliché subject in BJD photography, but that doesn't stop me from appreciating the beauty of such photos. I just love how sweet and tender they tend to look. Here are some of my favorites!

1. Phailin at the summer cottage 2. Good Evening Sunshine 3. Winter Butterfly
4. Isha 5. untitled 6. Ever
7. Helena 8. Tenderness 9. untitled
